Biohm Technologies, a leader in microbiome research and product innovation, has announced new institutional investors in its latest financing round, including capital from Praesidium and Sparkfood by Sonae. Moreover, supporting this next phase of growth, the company has appointed Dr. John Deaton as Vice President of Science and Technology.

In parallel with the new funding, Biohm deepens its bench of R&D expertise with the appointment of Dr. John Deaton as Vice President of Science & Technology. Dr. Deaton brings more than 17 years of expertise in microbial and enzyme research, with a career spanning probiotics, prebiotics, and biotechnological applications. Previously, he served as Vice President of R&D for North America at ADM/Deerland Probiotics & Enzymes, leading innovations in human wellness, agriculture, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and animal nutrition. His work has advanced clinical studies on spores, enzymes, and bacteriophages, deepening the scientific understanding of microbiome health solutions.
Holding a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University, Dr. Deaton has contributed to top-tier scientific journals, served on the board of the Global Prebiotics Association, and played an active role in industry organizations such as AOAC and the International Probiotics and Prebiotics Association. At Biohm, he will lead the expansion of microbiome technology solutions, including ingredients, gut health testing, and data-driven supplement formulations.
