Sam Schatz

Sam Schatz is the CEO of Biohm Technologies, a microbiome innovation company developing the next generation of microbiome-based ingredients. Leveraging a proprietary dataset that integrates genetic analysis of bacterial and fungal communities with deep metadata, Biohm applies advanced AI, bioinformatics, and deep learning to create targeted formulations for diverse population cohorts—unlocking the potential of the microbiome to transform human health.

Sam’s career centers on the intersection of data science and biology, with a passion for scaling transformative technologies. Prior to Biohm, he was the first employee and Managing Director at AeroFarms, where he helped grow the company into a global leader in vertical farming, scaling the team to more than 300 employees and launching some of the world’s most advanced indoor agriculture facilities.

He joined Biohm Health, Inc. in May 2021 as President, became CEO and co-founder of Biohm Technologies in December 2023, and serves on its Board of Directors. Sam has led the company’s strategic growth, expanded its scientific and commercial capabilities, raised capital, and managed company-wide operations and P&L. He has more than 15 years of experience across management, finance, and entrepreneurship, with a track record of building mission-driven businesses that combine cutting-edge science with measurable impact.

Outside of work, Sam is an avid outdoor enthusiast. He is an Adirondack 46er, a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), and a committed endurance athlete, regularly competing in open water swims and triathlons.
Sam serves on the Emerging Leadership Council at 92NY and the Board of YPO Polaris. He holds an MSc in Management from the London School of Economics and a BA in Political Science from Columbia University. He is also the founder of Social Citizen, an initiative that develops curriculum for safe and responsible social media use among children and parents.
